Below are some of the dogs that College Garth currently have for rehoming. We do aim to keep this page as accurate as possible, not all dogs will go on here as they will be reserved quickly - please telephone us for the most up-to-date information as the dogs change daily. Telephone 01509-842327. Rescue don't breed.
You will need to pass a home check before you can have a dog, having a securely fenced garden is usually important, if you live in rented accommodation you will need a letter from your landlord stating you can have a dog.
So many Staffies in rescues! Over breeding of Staffie types is now a major problem for rescues, indiscriminate & overbreeding for cash is just pumping out too many dogs! Healthy dogs especially Staffie's are being put to sleep everyday because rescues simply have no room for them! Please consider an older dog rather than a puppy and save a life so easily lost.
Please remember many of our dogs are strays and arrive to us with no information about them, even disclaimers can be left with false information. The kennel staff assess the dogs while they are in the kennels with the help of our dog trainer and walkers. However, dogs can change so new owners need to be prepared to let their new dog settle iin slowly and be aware that they might behave differently from the kennels, they may have been abused, spoilt or just used to a very differnet way of life before you. A new home can be upsetting for some dogs who will need time to settle and trust you before their true character can come out. Accidents such as messing inside and chewing may happen and owners should not leave a new dog with expensive items untill they know they are fine to do so - prevention is always better!

friendly when she knows you. She fine passing other dogs. Probably wouldn't be suitable with young children . She is microchipped but details have not been kept up to date
Zeta is getting kennel stressed and has started shouting at other dogs when out on a walk. We feel that she would be better as the only dog

Tommy-large male Staffie
Around 1 year old.
Found as a stray on 11/11/10.
Friendly with people, but does jump for lead at start of walk
Under assessment.
Tommy is in need of an experienced owner to this breed, we feel he has been allowed to get away with naughty behaviour and will need a firm owner to carry on the training which he has been getting at kennels. He feel due to his boisterous behaviour that he should not be homed with young children, he is not aggressive just full of beans.

Crate, house trained, good to travel & easy to walk
a kennel favorite george has been stuck here most of the year we dont know why:{
castrated & has had part of his tail removed due to a injury

Around 3-4 years old.
Found as a stray on 4/10/10.
Belle a friendly girl who seems to have been abandonded after being used for breeding and will be under our Staffie spaying scheme.
Belle is currently under more veterinary treatment for a skin condition and ear problems. We have been told due to probably not having the correct care in the past, she will need on going vet care for her ears. She is a very sweet girl which has just been used for breeding and now needs the love and care which she deserves
easy to walk, loves cuddles

Coco
Staffie bitch. on staffie spay scheme-please ask for details
Around 4-5 years old.
Found as a stray on 29/6/10.
She has been used for excessive breeding. Friendly with people, but not 100% with other dogs, she was walked today & passed a male dog fine she was easy to walk on the lead, but will not be suitable to let of lead near other dogs.
We are urgently looking for a home for poor Coco who just loves her cuddles and being around people. She isn't hard to handle on a lead and likes her bed. We feel she would make a lovely pet so someone who doesn't want a dog that needs lots of time with walking.
She has to wear a collar in the kennels to stop her knawing her feet, hopefully this will stop once in a home as she has got worse while being here she has had a vet check her skin -seems to be caused by stress of being in the kennels as she just loves being with people so much.
Coco-please help, due to her being soooo stressed in kennels another skin outbreak has occured causing her to chew her legs. She is having medical baths again but our vet has said she would recover much better in a home. She is just so sad in kennels and just wants to be with you and give you lots of kisses
Thanks to the nice people who used her to make money from breeding then dumped her!

He is needing an experienced Staffie owner

|
Rupert
Jack Russell dog.
Around 2-3 years old.
Returned on 8/9/10 after being in a home for around a month.
Rupert was orginally a stray but has been returned due to his owner not having time for him and was leaving him for long periods. He is better suited as the only dog as will be a typical Terrier and take a disliking to some dogs. He is needing a secure garden as he will escape if he gets the chance. Rupert hasn't been given very long in a home so it is hard to know how he will be in a home
Rupert is v stressed in the kennels & hates being near so many noisy dogs |
|
ROSE
Bull type x boxer bitch.
Arouind 1-2 years old.
Found as a stray on 24/11/10.
Rose was scared when she came in but is coming out her shell & is a v friendly, playfull girl once out on a walk, seems ok near other dogs-further assessments will be done.
Rose is a silly youngster. She is now walking well now-still silly and bouncy on the lead. She has been walked with other dogs. She is scared of the traffic. When she gets to know you, she just loves you and wants to be with you-which lead her to break our pen fence to come and find people. Would need a secure garden and someone who has the patience

TOBY
Staffie cross dog.
Around 18 months-2 years old.
Found as a stray on 27/10/10.
Toby has not been looked after by his previous owner-he has not been treated for mange, is underweight and has deep cuts on his face and hind leg. Toby has been very friendly with staff while we have been treating hi body condition. He of course loves his food but we can not asses him with other dogs until he has the all clear by the vet.
Toby update is-his cuts have healed and his coat is starting to grow back. All he needs now is a warm home. He is still very keen about food so young children may not be suitable to live with Toby. He is now getting very excited to see us and go out on his walks. What a little love does for these dogs-why do people do it?!

|
TYLER
Doberman cross dog.
Around 1-2 years old
Found as a stray on 12/7/10.
Very friendly, seems fine walking with other dogs.
Was nervous when he first came in but is now walking much better with other dogs on a halti and will play with the female dogs-if walked out with Rocket a male greyhound & loved him but doesnt like all males. He is very stressed in the kennels & does not like all the dogs barking near him which does make him grumpy towards some dogs, he will need more socilisation once in a home.
He does have his excitable moments and will jump up so young children may not be suitable.

|
Alan
Staffie cross dog. 1yr max
Found as a stray on 2/7/10 in the woods.
He is a very young, lively boy, likes playing ball.
Not to go with young children as quite lively at times.
Friendly, happy, intelligent boy, soon learns what behaviour is required of him, much calmer now than when he arrived, his basic training is fairly good.
Has been walked out with other dogs & really seemed to enjoy his walks with mates

Ellie
Around 3 years old.
Disclaimed with her sister Lucky (rehomed)on 29/4/10.
She is an ex-racing dog. She slept in a kennel at night but was allowed in the house during the day. She was good with the children and seem was fine with other dogs but has started growling/snapping at other dogs ( due to kennel stress) & will need to be rehomed as an only dog, may need to be muzzled when out. (all greyhounds are walked with muzzles on at kennels) Once she has settled back into a home she will prob cheer up & get on with other dogs again.
She is lively and bouncy. She is vaccinated and a friendly, loving girl .
Lucky her sister has gone to a home & been fine & settled well |
|
ISOBEL
Rottweiler bitch. Very pretty & unusal appearance with her curly coat
Around 3-4 years old.
Found as a stray on 23/7/10.
Very friendly girl. Does walk well on the lead for a large dog. Has had puppies through some part of her life. Does seem fine walking with other dogs but isnt suitable to live with another dog. Doesn't seem bothered by children being around her |
|
ZARA

Staffie cross bitch.
Around 1-2 years old.
Found as a stray on 3/6/10.
Zara is a very friendly girl and loves other dogs. She is strong on the lead but walks much better on a halti. She is in need of a firm and experienced owner which can offer her plenty of long walks. She has been tried out in a home for just over a month but returned on 24/9/10. She was fine on her own but they then got a puppy and 2 lively dogs were too much for them.
She is a great dog always happy to see you & always looking for new doggy pals she would love to have a boisterous dog to play with. Always a very happy girl :}

|
Oliver
Boxer cross dog.
Around 1-2 years old.
Returned on 9/8/10 after being in a home for a couple of months.
Oliver needs an experienced owner to this breed or larger sized dogs. At kennels we have had no problems with him-he walked out with other dogs, walked well on the lead and enjoys playing fetch. However in his new home he decided he didnt like the 2 small dogs in went to live with, we are not sure why.
He had excitable bursts of energy in his home so no young kids. Friendly & good with all the walkers here
 |
|
SAFFY
female Staffie type
Around 4-5 years old.
Found as a stray on 4/9/10.
Saffy has been used for breeding and has came into kennels with a poor conditioned coat. She is very friendly with people but doesn't kennel well & has lost a lot of weight here. She has also started being silly passing other kennelled dogs-we think she would be better suited as the only dog in the household. All she wants is to be loved by people-she has recently been spayed and is ready for a loving home
She is easy to walk & does walk out fine with other dogs
will be on staffie spay scheme

|
Terry
Jack Russell dog.
Around 1 year old.
Found as a stray on 11/11/10.
