GREAT GREYHOUND GATHERING 2011
The Retired Greyhound Trust invites you to join us at our fifth annual
Great Greyhound Gathering
Saturday 17th September
Nottingham Race Course, Colwick Park, Nottingham NG2 4BE
Show opens 10:30am, registration from 9am
The unmissable main event in our calendar, the Great Greyhound Gathering will see hundreds of greyhounds showcased in front of Crufts judges Keith Thornton, Ann Raymond and Belinda Race, as well as a host of exciting activities for dog lovers of all ages, including stalls, trade stands, archery, a Kids' Corner and face-painting. The event will also play host to the unveiling of this year's Ultimate Dog Coat Competition winning design.
"This is a celebration of all the work that is undertaken by RGT branches and volunteers across the country, and a great opportunity for anyone thinking of getting a dog to come along and meet a greyhound."
Peter Laurie, RGT Chief Executive
The dog show has classes for greyhounds and other breeds, so get your entries in, or just turn up on the day.
All proceeds from the day will help us to ensure the welfare of the dogs in our care, and we hope to raise awareness of the suitability of retired greyhounds as pets - as gentle, placid and adaptable animals, they make excellent companions.
The Great Greyhound Gathering will start at 10:30am (registration from 9am). Come along, bring a friend, and support the RGT - we would love to see you!
For more information on the event or adopting a retired greyhound, please contact the RGT on 020 8335 3016, or click here to find out more.

What green spaces in Leicsestershire do you value? Got a favorite dog walking area that you dont want to lose? Tell the council now!
People are being urged to have their say on the green spaces they value. The county council wants to hear from people about their favourite green spaces, whether they are parks and meadows or large green wedges between towns.
The council launched the idea because the Government’s localism policy aims to give local communities a greater say on planning decisions affecting their areas. Ministers are also proposing to create a new “valued green spaces” designation. Understanding which green spaces local people particularly value will help local communities and councils decide where new homes and other developments needed by local communities are best located.
At the moment, Leicestershire has green wedges around Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley and Coalville. Residents have been campaigning for further green wedges to be designated and other areas of countryside to be protected
There are two ways to make your views known:
• Attend your local community forum meeting before the end of March – there will be sessions on green spaces at each one.
• Make your comments using our interactive, online map of the county. Just enter a postcode or click on the map to find an area of interest, zoom in and select a particular place, then let us know what it is you value about that green space. You can tell us about as many areas as you want - just repeat the process
